How to choose medical care in Seoul

Choose the appropriate specialty, clinician and care plan first. Use map reviews as context, verify every important promise, and plan follow-up.

THE SHORT VERSION

For medical treatment, the right clinic is the one that can clearly explain who will assess you, why the proposed treatment fits your concern, what it costs, and how follow-up works. Do not choose on a star rating or influencer post alone.

01 / The four checks

Questions to ask before paying

01

Who performs the consultation and procedure?

Ask for the clinician’s name and role, and whether a dermatologist will diagnose your concern before treatment. A clinic brand and a practitioner are not the same thing.

02

Is interpretation available for the full visit?

Confirm whether language support covers consent, medical history, the procedure itself and aftercare—not only reception or messaging.

03

What does the quoted price include?

Ask whether tax, consultation, numbing, medication, aftercare and follow-up are included. Request the answer in writing before paying a deposit.

04

What happens after you leave Korea?

Ask how the clinic handles side effects, complications and remote follow-up, and who to contact outside business hours.

02 / Reading public reviews

Use reviews to find questions, not answers

Repeated comments about communication, waiting time or price clarity can help you prepare questions. They cannot tell you whether a procedure is appropriate, safe for your medical history or likely to produce a specific result.

03 / Common questions

Quick answers

Does a high map rating mean a clinic is medically better?

No. Map ratings describe user feedback on a platform and can reflect service, waiting time, price or convenience. They do not prove clinical quality or suitability for your condition.

Can Google and Naver review numbers be compared directly?

No. The platforms have different audiences, review formats and counting systems. Treat each as separate context and check the original listing.

Can I rely on a familiar neighborhood name to find the right branch?

No. Marketing names can cover several districts or branches. Always confirm the full street address, building, floor and branch name before traveling.
